There is little consensus on the amount of risk that pesticides pose to humans.  Some suggest that there is no question of the negative impact on our health while others believe that the amount that we ingest is not enough to warrant concern. Clearly there have been instances where pesticides have proven to be harmful, such as DDT and have been banned.

Farmers are on the front lines as they struggle to produce food that is healthy and not harmful to the environment.  Now there is huge interest in biologicals, products based on microbes that can “naturally” counter pests and other harmful diseases that can impact crops of all kinds.
