Psychologists James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen were paid 81 million dollars to help the CIA come up with torture methods based on their work with dogs. Victims have taken them to court seeking damages. They are represented by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The torture that occurred under George W. Bush’s administration was horrific and inhumane and according to the ACLU included:

“…slamming them into walls, stuffing them inside coffin-like boxes, exposing them to extreme temperatures and ear-splitting levels of music, starving them, inflicting various kinds of water torture, depriving them of sleep for days, and chaining them in stress positions designed for pain and to keep them awake for days on end. “
