“Good Girls Revolt”

Good Girl’s Revolt is a new Amazon series based on the book of the same name by journalist Lynn Povich. The book chronicles the incidences leading to a lawsuit, by a group of women at Newsweek magazine back in 1970.  The lawsuit accused Newsweek of discriminating against women in the newsroom.  Up until that point, in many news organizations, very few women had bylines and most were relegated to being researchers, even writing articles only to have men literally take all the credit.

While things in newsrooms across the globe have dramatically changed, there is still gender bias across all media.  Women are still on 35% of most newsrooms and 75% of all news stories are about men.
