While some research in the past has suggested that a few drinks each week, like a glass of red wine with dinner, may be beneficial to your health, a new study suggests quite the opposite, arguing that most of these “happy-go-lucky” outcomes are based on faulty data or built-in bias.

Prior health claims have varied, from the sublime to the ridiculous, with some saying that moderate drinking can lower risk for heart disease, reduce risk for the common cold, cancers, birth complications and even liver cirrhosis.

Sounds to good to be true, right? It is.
